GET THE GOOP
GETS GWYNS LOOK FOR LESS
GET THE GOOP
I started my mag career doing Get The Looks, it was mostly twenty somethings and a whole lot of early 2000 fashion. So it only makes sense that we fast forward to me now doing get the looks on none other than Gwyneth Paltrow. To be fair I probably did a Get The Look on her back then too. She has managed to stay timeless and in vogue all at the same time for decades. So without doubt she is definitely someone we should be looking to for style inspiration.
Her style aesthetic is simple, refined and best of all comfortable. She mixes on trend pieces with classic items effortlessly. She has the work from home look nailed, from meetings to school runs she has you covered and smothered in chic.
Let's be honest, her knickers are probably cashmere, crotchless, cost more than my monthly food shop and available to buy on her website now! So the question is, is it possible to get the goop on the choop? I mean cheap, I can feel those eye rolls here!
AN APPLE A DAY
Why this works: This may be an ODE to her daughter and if it is, I'm here for it. Wearing colour can be tricky and scary for some people but paired with a neutral like this, makes it really easy and gives it a sophisticated look. This outfit is the perfect example of quietly making a big impact. TOTAL SPEND £263.99

BUSINESS ON TOP AND A PARTY DOWN BELOW
Why this works: They say every outfit should have texture, shape and the proportion of three. This outfit has all three and done to perfection. Before I go any further let me explain the proportion of three theory. This is dividing your body from your shoulders to your feet into three sections. In this outfit she uses the jacket as line 1, the shirt as line 2 and the crop trousers as 3. She has managed to keep the items tailored but relaxed and best of all she has made wearing slippers worn as shoes à la mode. PS if you want to create the same collar line as hers, simply tuck the collar in and Voilá! TOTAL SPEND £150.98
NAUTICAL BUT NICE
Why this works: Chanel did it first, stripes became a neural and everyone started doing it but of course Gwyn just does it better. The unexpected red trousers makes this outfit exciting and stands out from the norm. I would add an oversized Navy bomber jacket with the sleeves pushed up to the elbows to complete the look. PRETTY IN PASTELS
Why this work: I’m hoping this pic was taken before she finished styling the look. I'm hopeful that there was a french tuck or a one sided tuck. I’m thinking she kept it simple and slipped on a boat shoe. She added a tan bag and folded up the cuffs to complete the outfit. She allowed the shorts and shirt to be front and centre knowing that both colours are trending for the season and compliment each other perfectly on the colour wheel. Of course in true Gwyn style she kept the pieces timeless. I could see a 20 year old pull this off as well as a 70 year old. That my friends is the true meaning of timeless dressing. DELUXE DENIM
Why this works: If you have been following me for a while you will know that I am a huge fan of the Canadian tuxedo, or better known as a good double denim look. What I love about this suit is the formal structure in the informal denim. This means you can wear it almost anywhere. Perfect for the office, a dinner or even a birthday party. You can wear the pieces together you can also wear them separately creating many more outfits, which makes this a win win win! TOTAL SPEND £96.97
I often see posts on socials asking where to shop once you are over 40. It's not about the where but the how. Once you have the style inspiration you would like to achieve it's very possible to find what you are looking for, at a price point that works for you, no matter your age. Following a style aesthetic like Gwyneth Paltrow will be the ideal way to create that timeless and well put together capsule wardrobes so many are after.
